Winter Training @ GMRC
2.12.2011
This is it boys and girls, your chance to get your winter training on track for 2012!!!
You may or may not already be aware of the annual EPC Stationary Trainer Workout Series I have held for the last 6 years at various locations around town? Well ready or not, here it is returning for the 7th year at the Green Mountain Rec Center in Lakewood, CO!!!
Not only is it back for it’s 7th rendition, it’s going to be better than ever. By teaming up with the city of Lakewood it is now more affordable and easier to sign-up for, it’s going to be bigger than ever. We have also developed separate swim training and running series’ running in conjunction with the cycling, following a similar format as the ever popular stationary trainer series.
The format of all three series’ will be three weeks of training, followed by one week of recovery, spread over four months! You can sign up for all of it, or just a little bit. But once you tri, you won’t want to stop (lame wording, sorry). Each segment builds upon the previous, so it is ideal to start at the beginning and build your fitness the right way. But if you join us later in the progression we can help you “catch up” to rest of the group and get your fitness on track! The swim, bike and run are designed to accommodate every ability from beginner to pro. In fact, there will be at least one of each at every session! You heard me right, you beginners can train WITH pros! And you pros, you get to train with beginners (let’s not get too full of yourselves). Don’t hesitate. No one gets too far ahead or left too far behind (because we aren’t really going anywhere anyways!).
Here are class times:
- SWIMMING: tue/thur 6:30-7:30 AM (in the pool, coach on deck)
- CYCLING: tue/thur 6:00-7:15 PM (on the trainer, coach on bike)
- RUNNING: mon/wed 6:30-7:30 AM (indoor & outdoor, coach along side)
The monthly costs are only $48 per sport per session/month (6 workouts!). Discounts are available to TEAM Adrenalin members (15%) and EPC Coaching clients (50%). Might as well get yourself signed up for that while you’re at it. You’ll need to be on the 2012 master list to get your discount. For others not on the team or getting personal coaching, there are discounts of $6 off per month for the second sport in same month (making it $90 for two sports), and $12 of the third sport in same month ($126 for all three per month) if you go ALL OUT with everything!
Space is limited. These classes will fill up, guaranteed. Lakewood is promoting the heck out of them to all their rec center members!!! I’m sending this out to all of you hoping you get on the ball and get your spot before everyone else does. It’s out of my control! So get on it ASAP!!
CALL 720.963.5366 to get registered.
I can’t help you get in once they are full so DON’T DELAY!

Hi Cody,
I am one of Kathy’s old co-workers from Jefferson Hills. I am wanting to train for a half marathon in the spring. Would the winter running series suit that type of training? I am a beginner runner, I have done a couple 5ks and one 10k. I run like once sometimes twice a week. I am really looking for some training to keep me motivated and focused on my goal. And maybe some tips to actually be a little competitive?! Let me know what you think.
Liz Schmidt
Definitely Liz! The run series will improve everyones running ability, for all distances, through improving the runner’s mechanics, economy, strength and endurance through a progressive workout series beginning with drills and technique work, adding strength, hill running, and endurance work to the mix as the weeks go by. The final block will improve speed, so you will be ready to PR in the spring! Hope you can join us. Let me know if you have other questions.
