EPC and XTERRA shining star, Hairy Jason Michalak, has extended invitations to all EPC’ers and friends that would like to join him in the desert for some warmer training in March. The plan is to ride, run and maybe even swim some (?) on the Moab XTERRA course plus other great trails in the area over the 5-day period of time. Although Moab is well-known for it’s radical and technical trails, there are quite a few novice and intermediate riding options available for longer endurance training and keeping the HR in check! Jason’s plan is to camp for the week, but there are hotel and B&B options for the less outdoor-inclined types. Should be a good time and great training, maybe even without leg-warmers!
Here is the plan:

Our first call in December with Robert Kunz, co-owner and head of product development at First Endurance Racing Nutrients was fantastic. Light was shed on when and why to eat carbohydrates and the differences between the types of carbs we eat. Also great tips on what to eat before races and how to maximize your race nutrition for better results. The call is (or will be) available for listening in the EPC Training Library for all club members. Check it out!
The next call is THIS Wednesday (as in TODAY) the 2nd of February. Topics are recovery and stress management as well as a more in-depth look into the First Endurance product line. After the discussion we will open it up to listeners so you can get your nutritional questions answered! Everyone is invited to attend. If you cannot attend, the calls will be recorded and available for later listening in the EPC Training Library.
The dates and topics of the calls are as follows:
- December 15th- Carbohydrate Metabolism
- February 2nd- Recovery & Stress Management
- February 16th- Micro-nutrients and Performance
All calls will be held at 7:00 PM MST on the following conference call line: 1-712-432-3100, access code 154336
