What’s Up?
15.01.2009
So what have I been up to since Maui?
Tons of stuff…..
Growing my coaching business for one. I moved into a physical location with an office, training facility and testing equipment. This has allowed me to be more productive and have a much more official feel to things rather than meeting at that local coffee shop.
Things are busy over at EPC with both Cary and I setting up new athletes for the 2009 season, getting our returning athletes dialed in with their plans, performing off-season performance testing, beginning the 4th year of the EPC Stationary trainer series, getting the EPC XTERRA Team on track for the new season, securing sponsors, and after all that getting are own training in.
Speaking of training…..
After Maui I took two weeks completely off from any kind of training. Then for the last two months I have gradually gotten back into some quality training. I am in what I like to call my Base Prep Phase of training. Training to train. I have spent very little time on the bike. In fact other than my secret bike training (I’ll get into that in another post), I have been on only one formal road ride over the last two months! To top that off, I hadn’t been in the pool for the whole months of November and December!
What the heck have I been doing?
Well… I have been doing a fair amount of running, strength training and nordic skiing. It’s all been in good fun to prepare my body for the more specific training to come. My running has been all endurance paced with a few fartlek efforts thrown in and a race here and there to keep some speed in the legs. My strength training has been pretty solid. 3-4x a week with some decent weights. I think I may be getting huge?
The skiing has been the highlight. I’ve been getting up to the mountains about 1x week for about 90-120 minutes of good skating. I love being out there getting in solid aerobic training on different terrain. Super fun!
That’s about it. I’ll be posting more here soon on my training plans for the coming months as well as my race schedule and other details I know you are just dying to follow. Thank goodness I am back on the blog wagon. For you guys, I mean :-)
