2007 Has Come to a Close
8.10.2007
It’s been one week since Nationals and I’ve decided to call it a season. A very successful season at that. After several weeks of contemplating whether or not to go to Maui, I made the hard decision not to go.
For those of you that don’t know me, I am a very goal oriented person. I feel that I have had a near perfect season, meeting every one of my goals. Then a few weeks before Nationals I realized that I didn’t have a goal for Maui. I was so focused on the national points series that I hadn’t put any thought into Worlds. I guess I figured that just going and competing would be enough. Well, after weeks of going back and fourth on it, it just didn’t make sense for me to go goal-less.
So last week, and for the next three weeks, I will enjoy some time off from structured training and take the time to rest, recover, catch up on what ever I’ve been putting off for the last several months and just take it easy. During this down time I will take the opportunity review my 2007 season in detail and look towards 2008 by determining my goals and developing a plan on how to achieve them.
So there it is…. no Maui this year….. It’s hard to hear because it was so fun going last year, but it will surely fuel the fire for next year and you can be certain that a Maui goal will be established for 2008!
Thanks for reading and I want to give a shout out to all my 2007 sponsors. Thanks you Jamis Bicycles for the incredible XCR PRO mountain bike that was so fast! Thank you Powerbar for all the bars, gels, and recovery drinks that fueled me all year long. Thank you to Rudy Project for the helmet that saved my life at Nationals and the sweet shades. Thank you Maxxis Tires for all the exceptional rubber that carried me throughout the year. Thank you Blue Seventy for the stellar Helix wetsuit and Point Zero Three speed suit that helped improve my swim times in all temperatures. You guys rock and I look forward to continued success in 2008!
